that's kinda funny, my first gaming PC was just an old repurposed HP server with a graphics card slapped into it.

Checking back in 3 years later. Dont bother. Ryzen 1600+b350 mobo, and 16gb of ddr4 can be had for 210 bucks. That would blow this to the bloody moon.

Well, I mean, you could actually just buy an old xeon workstation for less than 100 bones and just upgrade it. Then you'd actually have a case, PSU, and even some ram to start off with.
I got a ryzen 5 1600 msi bazooka v2 16gb ddr4 ram for 130

Couldnt you get a ribbon cable for the gpu instead of hacking of the pcb lock
A slab of plastic from onlinemetals.com can be had cheaply for a custom backplate, that's not combustible. Press fit brass inserts for the threads. Use a c-clamp or bench vise to drive them in.++Mancard for McMaster Carr
