On Prime Time, we ask whether policemen do not require to comply with the law when controlling crimes and social unrest. CCTV footage has emerged showing a group of police and CRPF personnel barging into the library of Jamia Millia Islamia and brutally thrashing everyone present there. Are policemen free to assault anyone as per their will? Ravish Kumar draws a reference to the Supreme Court asking whether there is "any law left in the country" while hearing a case pertaining to dues to be paid by telecom companies to the government. Inaction by the police department against high-handedness by its personnel despite complaints by students of Jamia University again raises the question whether officers who have to uphold the law show blatant disregard to it.
